The Atlantic Club Riptide Team is a year-round competitive Swim Team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. Swimmers range from all ages - novice to Olympic Trials qualifiers.

  • Riptide Swim Team season begins in September and ends in March
  • Practice groups and practice times are determined by a combination of age and ability
  • TAC Swim team practices in the complex pool and meets take place at various venues throughout New Jersey

We currently have spots available for all group levels outlined below:

PRETEAM (5-8)

Ability to show swim 25 yards free and demonstrate beginning backstroke. This entry level group focuses on stroke mechanics and technique. Outcomes are movement to Age Group Prep. Sept-April, 1 or 2 x week, Coach Stephanie/Coach Alicia

AGE GROUP PREP (6-10)

Ability to swim 50 yards free, 25 yards back and breast, demonstrate beginner fly. This entry level group introduces young swimmers to competitive swimming and emphasizes stroke development. Outcomes of group are transition to Age Group program upon the development of efficient strokes, starts, and turns; improved conditioning; personal best times at USA swim meets; qualifying for summer league Divisional meets if applicable. AGE GROUP (8-12)
Ability to swim 50 yards free, back, breast, and 25 yards fly. This group continues skill set developments of AGP, with increased attention to stroke development and training while growing strength and endurance. Participation in competition strongly encouraged. Outcomes of group are transition to Bronze upon demonstration of efficient strokes; legal starts and turns; noticeable improvement in conditioning; swimmer awareness of personal best times and personal IMX scores; qualifying for summer league Divisional and All-Star meets if applicable.

BRONZE (9-14)
Ability to swim 200 yards free, 100 yards back, breast and fly. Participants should have efficient strokes and readiness for enhanced proficiency through focus on training strength, endurance and racing skills. Participants should have at least ONE season of summer league experience if brand new. Outcomes of group are advancement to Gold or Elite Groups by demonstration of increased efficiency in strokes, legal starts and turns, and improved conditioning; personal best times at USA Swim meets, qualifying for Junior Olympics and Zones.

SILVER (12-15)
Ability to swim legally all 4 strokes. While participants have various levels of training and ability, the group goal is to build ability level and unity within the group. Participants should have MORE than one season of summer league or year-round swimming experience. Outcomes of group are advancement to Gold or Elite Groups by demonstration of increased efficiency in strokes, legal starts and turns, and improved conditioning; achievement at a level that facilitates a move to Gold or Elite groups by demonstrating personal best times at USA Swim meets and the DESIRE to qualify for Junior Olympics, Zones, ISCA
Sept-May, 5x week, 2 dryland, Coach Rich

GOLD (12 and over)
Ability to swim legally all 4 strokes and be able to have a good 5th stroke performance. Participants must be committed to high standards of training and intensity, bring a willingness toward progress and dedication, and an interest in advancing to Elite level. Participants should have MORE than one season of summer league or year-round swimming experience. Outcomes of group are advancement to Elite Group by demonstration of increased efficiency in strokes, legal starts and turns, and improved conditioning; personal best times at USA Swim meets and a DESIRE to qualify for Junior Olympics Junior/Senior Champs, Zones, ISCA, NCSA and Sectionals.
Sept-May, 6x week, 3 dryland, Coach Rich

SENIOR PREP (14 and over)
Ability to swim legally all 4 stroke and perform good the 5th stroke. Participants are primarily interested in conditioning for High School Swimming with a goal of current level maintenance. Participants should have MORE than one season of summer league or year-round swimming experience. Outcomes of group are continued progress in efficient strokes, legal starts and turns, and improved conditioning; desire to qualify for Junior Olympics, Junior/Senior Champs, Zone, ISCA, NCSA and Sectionals; attainment of Junior Varsity or Varsity HS Swimming with personal best times.
Sept-May, 6x week, 3 dryland, Coach Rich

ELITE (12-15)
Ability to swim legally all 4 stroke and have a great 5th stroke performance. Participants are committed to the highest level of competition in competitive swimming. Participants should have MORE than one season of summer league or year-round swimming experience, and a willingness to participate in dryland training. Outcomes are development of advances strokes, legal starts and turns, and improved conditioning; personal best times at USA Swim meets; desire to qualify for Junior Olympics, Junior/Senior Champs, Zones, ISCA, NCSA and Sectionals.
Sept-May, 6x week, 3 dryland, Coach Rich

 NATIONAL (14 and over)

Ability to swim legally all 4 strokes and perform a outstanding 5th stroke. Participants MUST be committed to an intense training schedule inclusive of dryland training and double swim practices. Participants should have more than one season of year-round swimming and/or extensive summer league experience. Outcomes are development of advances strokes, legal starts and turns, and improved conditioning; personal best times at USA Swim meets, and qualifying times for Junior/Senior Champs, Zone, Sectionals, Winter Juniors Nationals, Nationals, Olympic Trials.

Our Facilities

The swim team works out of our 44-acre campus of The Atlantic Club Manasquan:

  • Manasquan pools utilize saline salt-water filtration systems (which reduces chlorine in the water and improves air quality dramatically)
  • The team trains in a 6-lane 25 meter pool throughout the majority of the year
  • Swimmers benefit from dry-land training, including indoor cycling

Our Staff

All of our coaches, are members of the American Swimming Coaches Association. Our coaches have access to the most comprehensive training and certification programs for youth coaches of any sport in the United States.

TRANSFERS 

All swimmers are welcome to try out for the Riptide Swim Team. If a swimmer has been registered and/or competed for another team, they must meet all financial obligations from their previous team before becoming a member of the Riptide Swim Team. All new swimmers must tryout or meet the particular standards set forth by the Head Coach in order to become a member. Transfers are responsible for their USA/NJ registration fee as well as the $10.00 transfer fee. 

 

 

 

USA SWIMMING REGISTRATION 

All Swimmers are registered with USA/NJ Swimming. The fee is $100.00 per swimmer, not per family. This fee will be paid directly to NJ Swim via link to payments. 

 

 

 

SWIM MEET FEES 

All swimmers are responsible for the entry fees for meets. Event pricing will change depending on the swim meet. 

 

 

 

BRONZE (9-14)
